From the producer to your table

Frozen seafood from Costa Rica

We process and freeze fish and seafood — wild-caught and responsibly farmed — at our plant in El Cocal, Puntarenas.

Our process

IQF freezing and cold chain

IQF frozen, piece by piece

IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) freezes each shrimp, fillet or portion separately. That way you use only what you need — without thawing the whole pack — and each piece keeps its texture and flavour.

An unbroken cold chain

The product is processed and frozen at our plant in El Cocal, Puntarenas, and held at freezing temperature from packing to delivery: to the supermarket shelf or to your business's kitchen.

Packing for shelf and kitchen

Retail presentations ready for the home and wholesale formats in bulk and master cases, labelled and traceable, designed for turnover at the point of sale and in foodservice.

Frequently asked questions

What does IQF frozen mean?
IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) is rapid, individual freezing: each piece is frozen separately instead of forming a block. It lets you serve only the portion you need and better preserves the texture and flavour of the seafood.
Is frozen seafood lower quality than fresh?
Not necessarily. A product frozen shortly after capture or harvest, with an unbroken cold chain, keeps its freshness, texture and nutrients all the way to your kitchen. The key is that the cold chain never breaks.
How do I store frozen seafood at home?
Keep it in the freezer at -18 °C or below, thaw it in the refrigerator (not at room temperature) and never refreeze product that has already been thawed.
Where is Delimar's plant?
In Barrio El Cocal, Puntarenas. That's where we process, freeze and pack, and from there we dispatch to supermarkets across the country and to wholesale customers. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00.
Where can I buy Delimar frozen seafood?
At retail, in Costa Rica's main supermarket chains: Walmart, Masxmenos and Maxipalí. Availability of each product varies by point of sale.
Do you sell frozen seafood wholesale in Costa Rica?
Yes. We serve foodservice, supermarkets and distributors from our plant in El Cocal, Puntarenas, with a full catalog of frozen species, sizes and presentations.
